Tenby is the main holiday resort in Pembrokeshire. To achieve this they like to maintain high standards in everything they do including winning 3 out of Pembrokeshires 11 Blue flag awarded beaches aiming it one of the cleanest holiday destinations in Wales and the UK.

Tenby’s history dates back to the time of the Norman Conquest. Its magnificent medieval walls were built in 1264 by the earls of Pembrokeshire to fortify the town from the Welsh rebellion and thankfully are still intact today. The narrow cobbled streets lined with shops cafés and restaurants are also reminders of this bygone age.

On the doorstep of Tenby is the stunning The National Park. From the rugged cliffs, lonely islands and sandy beaches to the wooded estuaries, wild inland hills, forests and marshes the park has something for everyone. Pembrokeshire National Park is also a haven for wildlife. It’s a good place to spot dolphins, fish, seals, the odd whale, and hundreds of thousands of birds. Rare choughs, puffins, moorhens, woodpeckers, herons and gannets are a common sight. In fact, you’re likely to see more animals than people!

A unique tourist attraction just off the coast of Tenby is Caldey Island. Owned and run by the Reformed Order of Cistercian monks, who live a simple life farming the island alongside a small village community. They produce a number of famous homegrown items including chocolate, ice cream, clotted cream, shortbread and yoghurt, plus perfumes and hand lotions derived from wild flowers that grow on the island. All these product can be purchased on the island, where ferries run regularly during the summer, and in shops in Tenby

One of the best ways to explore the area is a Tenby self catering cottage break. Self catering holidays give you the freedom to help you fully immerse yourself in the local area, why not try cooking some of the local delicacies yourself or stay out late star gazing or have that last drink at the local. With self catering you are free to decide.
