Pembrokeshire is the picturesque county in the southwest of Wales, famous as home to the beautiful Pembrokeshire national park, the UK’s only costal national park.
The National Park has more to it than its stunning coats line. Away from the rugged cliffs, lonely islands and sandy beaches there are wooded estuaries, wild inland hills, forests and marshes. The park has four distinct sections. Running clockwise around the coast, these are the south Pembrokeshire coast, including Caldey Island; the Daugleddau estuary; the St Bride's Bay coast, including the coastal islands; and the Preseli Hills.
Pembrokeshire has more Blue Flag beaches than any other county in Britain. With over 50 to choose from you are bound to find the perfect beach for you. There is surfing, kayaking or kite surfing and of course just some where to relax and build the odd sand castle.
Pembrokeshire is a haven for wildlife. It’s a good place to spot dolphins, fish, seals, the odd whale, and hundreds of thousands of birds. Rare choughs, puffins, moorhens, woodpeckers, herons and gannets are a common sight. In fact, you’re likely to see more animals than people!
There are an incredible 51 forts and castle in Pembrokeshire, including massive stone fortresses like Pembroke castle, Manorbier castle and Carew castle. There are also medieval walled towns of Tenby and Pembroke and fortified Bishops Palaces at St Davids and Lamphey.
One of the best ways to explore the area is a self catering holiday Pembrokeshire. Self catering holidays give you the freedom to help you fully immerse yourself in the local area, why not try cooking some of the local delicacies yourself or stay out late star gazing or have that last drink at the local. With self catering you are free to decide.
